Welcome! I'm Ariel. Along with my husband Clay, our dogs, cats, bees, & some poultry, we live in a tiny house nestled into a high mountain valley in western Wyoming & are working on settling into our own little homestead. Come along as we work to help an abused piece of land become productive once again for us, our animals, & wild things too. We try to share real life here. The good & the bad. The ups & the downs. What works & what doesn't. The parts we love (most of it!), & the things that suck. Not just the romantic idea of "homesteading" or tiny house life, but everyday details. We split wood for heat, get gravity fed water from a spring, use a composting toilet, & attempt to produce as much of our own food as possible. We hope others can learn from our mistakes & to make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing similar goals. We live in a fairly harsh & cold climate, but enjoy the stunning scenery & wildlife that we are surrounded by. We're glad you're here!

Our Hive Swarmed! What Did We Do? Just Over 1 Year of Natural Bee Keeping in Horizontal Hives
Great video! Lots of needed info. Thank you!! ❤
We could hear if you'd shut up
I have been trying to buy a metal entrance disk like I have seen on your hive. I can not find anything except a plastic one in Australia. Can you direct me to where you got yours. Love your videos and i am copying your techniques. Thank You
0:19 awwwwwwwwww🥰
Good ideas
I love having a clothes line. Mine was probably hung in the mid 70’s , and we’ve used it since 1999. I’ve had to replace the strands once. Sadly I don’t use it every wash day, but I’ll never get rid of it and use it with sheets and towels all the time. I love your newer one that doesn’t require walking a long line to hang clothes!
Ariel, I have a similar one. I love it. I hang my clothes all year even in the winter. Love the TP😉 in the laundry room!
Mine's forest green and a little smaller than yours. Thinking about getting that washer as I contemplate retirement and having only my own laundry to do.
Clay, this video is 1 yr old, and I am so glad it popped up in my feed. I read some reviews, and those who say stand up and walk have no clue to the degree you are talking about. It is a whole different level of cramps you are speaking about. My husband used to be able to stand, stretch, move, and eventually, it would calm down. Now, he gets them in the most killing areas, and they do not stop. He has never been a man to show pain, and I believe you may be the same, and I find it hard to see. Thank you for sharing this knowledge, and I am looking for this stuff right away.
So 4 eggs?
Can I use oat flour?
I've previously watched this spring at 6000' . This afternoon I viewed while you put the new solar clothes dryer. It looked to be a fun & worthwhile project. What I especially enjoyed was the Red Wing Blackbirds trilling in the background. I takes me back to the days on my grandparent's farm in eastern North Dakota. Love it!
Please can you say what % 1/4 or 1/2 Are siting mothers...,???Thankyou from Alaska
What % Are They Good Mothers,...? Thankyou from Alaska
Has anyone mixed ingredients together and held it in the fridge to add to water bath later, so the 36 hrs removed it at a good time.TIA 😊
Must be a little bittersweet. But all things changes. Congrats
Wow love the set up 💫💫🙌🙌
Wow nice ❤❤❤
We always have dill pickles in the house. The juice stops cramps like magic and you get to eat the pickles as a bonus.
Too bad some neighborhoods don’t allow hanging clothes out side.better check before u buy.
OMG! I thought you quit RUclips. I'm overjoyed my favorite RUclipsr didnt quit afterall.....YAY!
I purchased a washer 5 years ago, along with a 5 year protection plan, all together it cost me $980. I wasn’t happy with the machine because the clothes didn’t come out clean. On Friday it stopped working. It failed 17 days after the protection plan expired! I’m so angry! Two years ago, I installed an outdoor rotary clothesline and have been air drying clothes since. Now that the washing machine failed, I’m planning on ordering one of these Lehman machines, which are comparable to the cost of the modern machines, and I’ve no doubt that it will last me longer than 5 years and 17 days.
Great to see you using such devices again. I hope more people take advantage of them in the States. I live in a village in Germany, where it's standard to dry clothing outside wherever possible. Because of the wind, such rotary dryers are common in back yards. I use racks inside during cold weather and/or rain. In the cities, racks are common (esp. when you have a balcony). And "Monkey Wards"! I haven't heard that in forever. Thanks for the memory, Clay!
Great video… but the soundtrack dose not go with bears playing. It’s giving me a headache.
Ariel you look like a kid who just got all the candy she wanted in the candy store! 😂…. I have a clothes line I had my son put up when I moved into my home, but sadly I found it’s counterproductive to use it as we have a large tree canopy which covers our property and if I hang clothes and/or sheets on it they get covered in all sorts of things that fall from the trees 🥴… I end up having to wash everything all over again 🤨…. So it a no go for this household 🤷🏼♀️
Mine wasn't as big, or maybe it was, but I loved it. ❤
I have a rotary dryer just like yours, only made in England. It's the best!
Just so you know, the wind is created by the SUN warming the earth's surface, hot air rises and creates wind., so wind power is actually solar power, as well.
In Germany, those kinds of dryers are very common and also in those horrendos colors ;) They are called clothingspider
True direct wind and solar power usage. No intermediary battery storage
What a beautiful, fulfilling life you have chosen for yourselves!
I think a true venue of happiness is being married to a handy man.
Line dried laundry is great. I wish we could hang clothes out to dry here. The orange might seem too bright, but anybody who's run into 1 of those while mowing the grass would have probably appreciated the neon color.
I can't get over the view!!! I hope you take a minute every day to drink in that view and appreciate how very fortunate you are to see such beauty every day!!!! So pretty!!!
Buddy you need a shed lol
"Solid as SEARS used to be"! HA I miss SEARS
Love the peaceful life you live!❤😊
Think of red and orange as sun colors and you need sunshine for drying.
Drying clothes outside is best! It makes me angry knowing many neighborhoods don’t allow it. It may be a lost art! A few tips: hang jeans/pants from the hems. Leaving the waist area to hang free means it will dry sooner & with fewer wrinkles - Inside out might work better for some with pockets exposed to the breeze. Same with shirts. Hang by hems & fold the shirt as if on a hanger - I tug on the placket & collar to minimize wrinkles. Hang Uncle Joe’s underwear on an inside line out of sight! Hang sheets & blankets over 2-3 lines for better air circulation. We bought a large drying rack from Lehmans for quick-drying undies & wintertime. We have lines strung up inside for winter & rainy times. So many advantages! You are saving a lot of electricity, and not throwing away handfuls of your clothing from the dryer lint catcher.
Had to laugh on Cliff's comment on the snow! LOL Rhubarb custard pie! My favorite!
How are you all doing with the Teton Pass closure? Would it affect you in any way? That was a shock!! Many who work in Jackson live in Driggs. I saw that the road has been rerouted adding another hour to the commute. Will it be a problem with your out of home jobs? Or help it? Take care!!
Beautiful location awesome love it! 🌞👌🏾
ever climb those mountains in the background ... they seem to be beckoning
Gravel for drainage
do cinder blocks leach stuff into the soil? I thought I read something about why not to use cinder blocks ??
Another enjoyable video. As with mozt people my age (80) I grew up drying clothes on a clothesline and as others have said, the clothes, sheets, etc. smell so good! 😊
Cool solar/wind dryer❗️ I like to hang clothes out to dry! Clothes Smell so fresh❗️
I had a slightly smaller version and had to laugh on days when the laundry caught the wind and it spun dry! Great job! 👍🏼👍🏼
Such original thought. Thinking outside the box. Miraculous, but:......................... I've had one of those in my yard for 40 years.
Also in Wy looking to start chickens next year thanks for all of the info
